PROBLEM STATEMENT

Plants die because care ends at the point of sale. Generic care tags ignore the customer's home, the season, and the plant's changing condition, so new owners guess and retailers lose all visibility the moment a plant leaves the store. That makes it more than a customer problem: it drives returns, replacement costs, and lost future sales.

PROBLEM 1

35% of houseplants die in customers' homes

Over half of plant owners have accidentally killed an average of five plants. Overwatering (54%) and not enough light (30%) are the leading causes.

PROBLEM 2

47% of non-owners avoid plants because they're unsure how to care for them

Nearly half of potential buyers never make a first purchase. The barrier isn't price, it's confidence.

PROBLEM 3

Gen Z buyers are twice as likely as older buyers to bring a sick plant back to the store (24% vs 13%).

About 1 in 5 online orders are returned, and each return costs the seller $10-$65 to process.
